I really liked the article, “I’m Thankful I’m No Longer Dating an Asshole”: Thanksgiving Gratitude For The Single Person!
Generally speaking, I’m happy to be single. I’m free to do what I want, anytime, with whomever I please. This might mean I’m in bed before midnight with my cat, but I’m still doing what I want!
“The Holidays,” as represented by all greeting card companies, movies, and television, are a time for love, for fireside canoodling, and for heartfelt gift-giving followed by weak knees. This can be hard on single people, but, until I meet someone worth all the extra fuss, it’s just easier to keep doing whatever the fuck I want. I’m also thankful I’m no longer dating an asshole, thankful I can just hang out with my family during the holidays, thankful I can spend more money on my family’s presents, and thankful to not feel that fallinlovegetmarried push that The Holidays often bring.
We’re all doing just fine, whether we’re thankful for our partners and treating them like gold (like GOLD, do you hear me, those of you who are ungratefully coupled?), or we’re thankful for ourselves, our free time, our fulfillment regardless of others.
For what are you thankful?
